Eddie and Venom return for a third film.
Is there a release date for Venom 3?
Venom 3 is slated for release in October 2024.
As mentioned above, the sequel is currently in pre-production, as confirmed by Tom Hardy on Instagram.
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves through phase four, Sony Pictures has a series of Spidey spinoffs planned: Kraven the Hunter on October 6, 2023; Madam Web on February 16, 2023; and El Muerto, although this spin-off was recently pulled from the cinema schedule.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the sequel to the 2018 Oscar-winning actor, recently hit theaters, and March 29, 2024 will be followed by Beyond the Spider-Verse – barring a delay.

Hardy previously told Digital Spy, “These things [usually] come in threes. If there’s going to be a new one – and it depends heavily on the success of each one, so it can’t be counted on ever happening again – each one has to be like it’s the last.
“But I think it’s really important when you get into something and think that one, two and three are the same… same story, same movie. So that you are not surprised to suddenly have to make a third out of nothing.

He added, “There has to be some continuity in a third, a fourth, and a fifth, and if someone says ‘no,’ that’s okay. Let it go and move on to something else.”
Fans recently got their first look at Tom Hardy on the set of Venom 3, which you can read more about here.
Venom 3 cast: who returns and are there new characters?
Aside from Tom Hardy himself reprising his role as Eddie Brock, no returning cast members from Venom 3 have been confirmed.

Given his fate in the previous film, it’s possible Stephen Graham could return as Detective Patrick Mulligan, and hopefully Michelle Williams as She-Venom as well. More on that below.
Ted Lasso star Juno Temple has joined the cast and recently told Variety that she will be starting filming “very, very soon,” which I’m excited about.
Another new cast member we know for sure joining the cast is Chiwetel Ejiofor. Many know Ejiofor from his role as Karl Mordo in Doctor Strange and its sequel Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

In an interview with Screen Rant, director Andy Serkis said, “I know everyone’s desperately waiting for Venom to meet Spider-Man.” I know that. But I think some of the other supervillains living in Ravencroft have real ones Potential. There is such fertile ground to discover there. That would be the sandbox I would really like to play in. Who’s lurking in there that might break out?’
Who knows, maybe even Morbius will have an impact on his story. We would prefer it not to be so.

What has happened so far in the Venom movies?
Venom (2018)
In the first installment of Marvel’s anti-hero franchise, Eddie Brock is fired from his job as an investigative journalist after attempting to slander tech mogul Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed).
Drake’s nefarious experiments with symbiotes lead to Brock’s encounter with Venom, a space organism that needs a human host to survive. The two work together to bring Drake to justice for his crimes, only to find they are more alike than they thought. After the dust settles, Brock visits serial killer Cletus Kassidy (Woody Harrelson) in prison, though he may regret it.

Venom: Let There Carnage (2021)
Shortly after the events of Venom, Eddie Brock is still in touch with Cletus Kassidy. Kassidy gives Brock newsworthy posts to write about his crimes and later attempts to attack Brock, prompting Venom to protect him.

Carnage debuted in Venom 2.
After revealing that Brock harbors his own secret and getting a taste of his blood, Kassidy later unleashes the deranged symbiote Carnage on the world. Kassidy’s troubled past catches up with him when childhood flame Frances Berrison/Shriek helps him on his killing spree.

Detective Patrick Mulligan (Stephen Graham) is caught in the crossfire when Venom defeats Carnage, although it is suspected that Mulligan could initiate a symbiotic transformation of his own and potentially become Toxic in a future film.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
In the Venom: Let There Be Carnage post-credits, Eddie Brock was transported to the MCU 616 universe.
In the post-credits scene of No Way Home, Brock is still on the run from authorities after defeating Carnage. He is confused upon learning of the existence of Spider-Man and other members of the Avengers.

Before embarking on a quest to find Spider-Man, Brock is transported back to the Sony Pictures universe, following the summoning of Doctor Strange that (for now) restored the multiverse.
