TCL unveiled its NXTPAPER tech in 2021, and at the ongoing CES 2024 in Las Vegas, the brand announced NXTPAPER 3.0. TCL says it’s optimized for humans and has several enhancements and features designed to promote visual health.
The brand also said that NXTPAPER filtered harmful blue light by up to 61% while retaining sharp images, deep contrast, vibrant colors, and natural motion. NXTPAPER 3.0 continues offering these benefits and features “optimized for the senses of sight and touch.”
That’s achieved by incorporating the Circularly Polarized Light (CPL) screen, which simulates the natural light’s “emission – reflection – refraction” path, producing a visual effect mirroring the experience of reading books in natural light. This improves the CPL screen’s paper-like appearance and provides additional eye comfort.
Speaking of, the NXTPAPER software includes an eye-care assistant that helps users develop healthy digital viewing habits. It also has a rest reminder to encourage users to take breaks from prolonged use and assist them in adopting the popular “20-20-20” rule of eye care. It means taking a 20-second break every 20 minutes and focusing on an object 20 feet away. The software also has a feature to detect poor lighting and determine whether a user is too close.
Circling back to NXTPAPER 3.0, the new tech has higher refresh rates and DC Dimming for a flicker-free experience. It also comes with an improved Adaptive Color Temperature powered by an RGB sensor that allows the NXTPAPER display to adjust the color temperature automatically based on the time and ambient light for a comfortable viewing experience.
The NXTPAPER 3.0 tech will be used on the NXTPAPER 14 Pro tablet, TAB 10 NXTPAPER 5G tablet and the 50 Series smartphones announced at the ongoing CES 2024. And they will also come with NXTPAPER 3.0’s 3-in-1 VersaView UI optimized for different scenarios.
First is the normal view for regular use with default low blue light and no yellow tint. Second is the Color Paper Mode with low contrast for comic reading. Third is the black and white Ink Paper Mode for a pleasing e-reading experience.
